Important Notice

Scammers are using the SDF Capital name.

SDF Capital LLC has been made aware of reports that individuals unaffiliated with our firm are contacting the public by telephone and text message, using our company name to offer loans. These communications do not come from SDF Capital, and we have no connection to the people sending them.

What We Are Seeing

What has been reported to us.

Recipients have told us they received unsolicited calls and text messages from people identifying themselves as SDF Capital, or as representatives of SDF Capital, offering loans or loan approvals. Several people contacted our office to ask whether these callers work with us. They do not. SDF Capital is a real estate investment firm — we are not a lender, and we do not solicit borrowers.

Impersonation of this kind is unfortunately common: a scammer borrows the name and address of a real, established company so that a quick search makes the approach look credible. Nothing about these calls originates with us, and we are actively reporting them to the appropriate authorities. If you have been contacted, the guidance below will help you confirm what is genuine and what is not.

The Simple Test

What SDF Capital does — and what we never do.

What we actually do

Real estate investment

  • We buy property. SDF Capital acquires single- and multi-family homes that are distressed or undervalued, renovates and repositions them, and rents or resells them.
  • We raise capital from investors who choose to work with us — always through formal offering documents, never through a cold call or a text message.
  • We manage what we own, handling acquisition, financing, management and disposition in house.
  • We correspond in writing from addresses ending in @sdfcapitalllc.com, and from our office in New Rochelle, New York.
What we never do

We are not a lender

  • We do not originate, broker, service or fund consumer loans of any kind — personal, payday, business, debt-consolidation or otherwise.
  • We do not make unsolicited calls or send text messages offering loans, loan approvals or pre-qualification.
  • We never ask for an upfront payment — no application, processing or "insurance" fee, and no payment to release funds.
  • We never request gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency or payment-app transfers.
  • We never ask for banking credentials, full Social Security numbers or card numbers by phone, text or email.
  • We operate no website other than sdfcapitalllc.com. Any other domain using our name is not ours.

The shortcut: if someone contacted you out of the blue in our name and the conversation involves a loan, or any request for money or account details before you receive money, it is not SDF Capital.

If You Were Contacted

What to do next.

  1. Do not send money or personal information. No legitimate lender asks for a fee, a gift card or a wire transfer before releasing funds. Stop the conversation and do not click links in the message.
  2. Tell us what happened. Use our contact form and include the number or address that contacted you. We cannot recover funds, but we do report every number we are given.
  3. Report it to the FTC. File at reportfraud.ftc.gov. This is the primary federal record for impersonation and advance-fee loan scams.
  4. Report scam texts to your carrier. Forward the message to 7726 (SPAM) — free on all major U.S. carriers — and report unwanted calls to the FCC at consumercomplaints.fcc.gov.
  5. File with your state Attorney General. In New York, complaints go to ag.ny.gov. If money changed hands, also file with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov.
  6. If you already paid, act quickly. Contact your bank, card issuer or the wire service immediately to ask about a recall or chargeback, file a report with your local police department, and consider placing a fraud alert with the credit bureaus.
Questions

Common questions about these calls.

Is SDF Capital legitimate?

Yes. SDF Capital LLC is a real estate investment firm operating from 140 Huguenot St, Suite 201, New Rochelle, New York. Our only website is sdfcapitalllc.com. The people using our name in unsolicited loan calls and texts have no affiliation with us.

Does SDF Capital offer personal loans?

No. We do not originate, broker, service or fund consumer loans of any kind. We buy and reposition real estate, and we raise capital from investors through formal offering documents. Anyone offering you a loan in our name is not associated with SDF Capital.

I received a call or text from "SDF Capital" — was it real?

If it was unsolicited and it offered you a loan, it was not from us. We do not cold-call or text the public with loan offers. If you are unsure about any message that claims to come from us, contact us directly using the details above rather than replying to it.

They knew my name and details. Doesn't that prove it was real?

No. Personal details are widely available from data brokers and past breaches, and scammers routinely open with them to build trust. Knowing your name, address or the fact that you once enquired about financing proves nothing about who is calling.

Can SDF Capital get my money back?

We are not able to recover funds sent to a third party, and we are not responsible for the actions of people misusing our name. What we can do is report the numbers and addresses involved, which is why we ask anyone who has been contacted to let us know.

I am a genuine investor. Does this change anything?

No. Our investor relationships are unaffected. Every genuine offering from SDF Capital is made in writing through official documents, and our team is reachable at the office and email address listed above. If any communication about an investment seems out of character, please verify it with us before acting on it.
